Lindsay Mills is a self-described “world-traveling, pole-dancing superhero.”
She’s now better known as something else: Edward Snowden’s girlfriend.
The man who blew the lid off the NSA scandal told his girlfriend he would be going away for a few weeks, but he was vague about the reason.
“That is not an uncommon occurrence for someone who has spent the last decade in the intelligence world,” he told The Guardian (UK).
Of course, things were not normal for Edward Snowden.
Three weeks ago, the 29-year-old left his home in Hawaii because he planned on leaking information about the NSA’s secret spying program.
His identity was publicly revealed in The Guardian, and “I do not expect to see home again,” he told the paper from his Hong Kong residence.
So who is the girlfriend he left behind?
Lindsay Mills, 28, is a University of Maryland graduate and dancer who kept a blog called “L’s Journey” (it was recently taken down … wonder why).
Mills hasn’t publicly acknowledged dating Edward Snowden, but in her last blog entry, on June 10, she wrote that she was feeling “lost and adrift.”
“My world has opened and closed all at once,” Mills wrote.
“Leaving me alone at sea without a compass. Surely there will be villainous pirates, distracting mermaids, tides changing in the new chapter of my journey. But at the moment, all I feel is alone.”
“Sometimes life doesn’t afford proper goodbyes.”
A trained ballerina, she also dabbles in other kinds of dance, posting videos of her pole-dancing movies. She also poses underwear selfies a lot.
Alas, they are now scarce. Mills’ site and all its topless self-portraits and insight is down for the count. No overt references to Snowden can be found.
There’s little doubt she’s feeling the impact of what he did, however.
Mills has left her Twitter account active thus far, tweeting on Tuesday, June 11: “To delete or not to delete. That is the question.” The day before?
“I have lost my compass and I find myself adrift at sea.”
